The first week in December is when the Maleny Arts and Crafts Group holds its Christmas fair – just in time for people to start their serious shopping expeditions.
2017 is a special year for the group as it’s 40 years since it was founded (it was incorporated in 1991), so let’s make it a great event!
The fair is at the Maleny Community Centre, 23 Maple Street, right in the centre of the town. It usually runs from 9.00am to 4.00pm on the first Friday, Saturday of December and from 9.00am to 3.00pm on the first Sunday of December.
The town is known nationally and internationally for its concentration of artists and craftspeople and so it should come as no surprise that there’s a wealth of goodies on offer at regular intervals!
You might find a once-in-a-lifetime bargain gift for that special someone, or maybe just your Christmas cards for the season, but you’ll certainly have fun browsing the many (more than 40 this year) stalls and displays.
All the items on sale are handmade by local artists and artisans, and there’ll be woodwork, sewing, felting, pottery, glassware, hand and machine knitting and many other mediums, and maybe even a few surprises!
There’s also food on offer at the fair, with chutneys and jams on sale.
Win something amazing
Each year, the group selects a particular set of crafters to make some items to use as raffle prizes. This year’s group will get together to make something unique, handcrafted and eye-catching that you’ll really love (or, alternatively, that you donate to another raffle because you really don’t like it…).
