Getting married these days isn’t just a case of getting to the church on time. Folks are tying that knot in an ever-widening variety of venues to make sure that their special day is exactly that – unique and memorable for everyone involved.
Australia has no lack of stunning scenery, and the Hinterland of the Sunshine Coast is no different. Maleny is making a real name for itself when it comes to customised weddings.
The area around Maleny has several botanical gardens that see many weddings each year, as well as rural acreages, lakes and rivers that draw people to them to make their vows.
One of the more popular choices for weddings and receptions is big houses, cottages and sometimes even restaurants. One of the advantages of holding your event at these venues is that you and your guests don’t have to travel too far to get to the reception. Even better, if you hold your wedding at a venue with cottages, you don’t have to think about driving and just walk a few metres to luxurious accommodation. Once installed, you can sleep soundly then wake up and take it easy for a few days after the stress and excitement.
Our cottages are around eight kilometres west of Maleny and are set on 80 acres of beautiful mountain scenery. It’s also within easy reach of the area’s famous botanical gardens and other natural sights.
Run by a dedicated couple, Kat and Mel, the three Blue Summit Cottages – Cockatiel, King Parrot and Black Cockatoo – offer a stunning, luxurious and relaxing getaway for guests. Each cottage has a different colour theme, and all three offer amazing breakfast packages, as well as in-house massages and a barbecue hamper. Cockatiel Cottage is wheelchair-friendly and is set the closest to the car park of the three.
All three cottages have warm wooden floors and boast gas log fires, perfect for cuddling up together, especially if you take advantage of the complementary chocolates. If you’re the happy couple, you can order a romance package to make your first few nights as man and wife really special.
If you’re hiring out the cottages with close friends and family, the fact that the cottages are self-contained means you can do as much – or as little – socialising as you want to. Keep to your own quarters during the day before joining up for a mountainside Barbie in the evenings – what’s not to like?
